Life Events in Church

We are here to support you at significant moments in life.

Getting Married

wedding

Weddings are some of the happiest events that take place in church, and we are always delighted to be approached by couples wanting to get married. A church wedding is very special, it adds a spiritual dimension not only to your marriage service but to your future life together.

You're welcome to marry in church whether or not you are christened and whether or not you regularly go to church. The rules for marrying in church have changed  and now you don’t have to actually live in the Parish but you will need to demonstrate that you have a connection to the church. Please get in touch and we can discuss this in more detail.

For such a special day, we offer a beautiful church and a commitment to do all we can to ensure your wedding service is meaningful and joyful. We will help you to prepare for your marriage spiritually and emotionally as well as helping to work out the logistics of your day. We will plan every aspect of your service with you, and incorporate your choice of readings, hymns and music, so that your service is very personal to you.

If you would like to know more about booking a wedding at All Saints’ or you need to have your banns read please contact us on 01923 772109.

Baptism
baptism 2

Baptism (also known as Christening) is a very joyful event and if you are thinking of having your child baptised at All Saints’ we would be delighted to talk to you.

What is baptism?
Baptism is about becoming members of the Christian church and marks the beginning of our faith journey, a journey of growth and discovery with God that will continue to the end of our life. Many people bring their children to be baptised because they want to give God thanks for the amazing gift of life that He has given them and also because they want their children to grow up in the Christian faith.

At All Saints’ we are committed to supporting you, not only at the baptism service but in the years ahead as you help your child to understand what it is to live as a Christian in the world today. We have a number of services and activities specifically geared to children and young families to help and support you as you help and support your child in their journey of faith.

Sometimes people join the church as adults but were not baptised as a child, there is no age limit for being baptised so if this is something that you are interested in please get in touch with the vicar.

Thanksgiving Service

Sometimes parents feel that they would like to mark and give thanks for the birth of their child but they do not feel ready to commit to a Baptism Service.

You may like to consider a Service of Thanksgiving for the birth of your child. This lovely service is a wonderful way to give thanks to God as we acknowledge the very precious gift that your child is to you and your wider family and friends.

If you would like to talk to someone about planning a Baptism or having a Service of Thanksgiving, please contact the parish office on 01923 772109

Funeral

‘Even, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.’ Psalm 23:4

The loss of a loved one is a difficult time for all concerned and we pray for God’s special touch on your life if you have suffered the death of someone close to you.

We know, that in the days immediately following the death of a loved one, arranging a funeral may not feel the easiest thing to do, but we are here to help. Whatever type of service you want, whether in church, crematorium or burial, we can help you.

The words and actions of the service all speak of a loving God and the preciousness to him of every human being. We will work with you to plan the service for your loved one incorporating whatever personal contributions you would like to include.

We will help you choose readings, prayers and any music you would like. As Christians, we believe that death marks not the end of life, but a new beginning as we journey on from earthly life to eternal life with God.

Each year at the end of October or early in November, we have a service for to remember those who have died to which you are warmly invited. At this service we remember people who have died by name, place a flower in a display and light a candle in their memory.  If we have conducted the funeral service of your loved one you will automatically be invited to this service and your loved one’s name will be read out for three years following their death.

You may also like to have your loved one’s name entered into our Book of Remembrance which is in church.

If you would like to talk to someone about planning a funeral, obtaining bereavement support or having a loved one’s name included at the Service of Remembrance please contact the parish office on 01923 772109

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Whether you've just moved to the area, have lived here all your life or are just visiting, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about All Saints’ Church, Croxley Green.  We would love to see you!

What facilities are available at the church to enable access for all?
♦ We have temporary ramps available on request for step free access. There is a fixed ramp
within the church to improve access for those with mobility challenges.
♦ There is a loop system for those using a hearing aid.
♦ Our church hall opposite has toilets; one of which is a disabled toilet with changing facilities for
   babies.
♦ There is street parking available around the church.
♦ Large print copies of the service booklet and hymn books are available.
♦ Our Sunday service is also shown on a large screen.
♦ Some services are available on our facebook page.

What should I wear?
Come as you are, wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing; whether it’s jeans or your Sunday best.

What will happen when you arrive?
You will be welcomed and given everything you need for the service. We always aim to start on time but don’t worry if you arrive late.

What will happen during the service?
Some services are more formal than others (see below), but generally they will include hymns and/or worship songs, prayers, Bible readings and a talk. During a service of Holy Communion you will be invited to go forward for Communion or a personal blessing should you wish.

What about children?
Although we do not have a Sunday school, we feel children enhance our intergenerational worship through their openness and engagement with God; therefore they are welcome at all our services. There is also a selection of toys and activities available for them.

What about money?
The church is completely reliant on donations to cover its running costs and so a collection is taken during our services, where cash or card donations can be made if you wish.

What happens after the service?
There are refreshments available after our Sunday main service. We would love you to join us so we can get to know each other better.
